On 15th March Chatswood Chase will transition into its next evolution to reposition as the leading luxury retail, dining and lifestyle destination to serve the north shore community for the next four decades and beyond. The vision is to transform into a modern and iconic destination with luxury retailing, experiential dining, a new fresh food market hall.
Amongst the introduction of new luxury brands, the retail precinct will undergo a major reconfiguration of the ground level through to level two, with extensive design and ambience upgrades including new skylight-atria features throughout and the transformation of the Victoria Ave main entrance. Early works have been in progress and we’re now ready to commence the full scale construction from 15 March 2024 with an expected completion date in late 2025.

The first phase of this exciting development is well underway on the centre’s lower ground level to deliver Chase Market - a new, premium fresh food precinct complemented by new restaurants and cafes within a new dining precinct. Chase Market will bring cutting-edge design and a wide variety of fresh and specialty foods and include a mix of new and existing retailers.
Customers can expect a destination that has been reimagined to match their aspirations and exceed expectations, with an elevated selection of specialty fresh foods, a new dining precinct and market hall and refreshed retail offer.
Chase Market’s new dining precinct promises an elevated experience, featuring premium dining operators and grab and go restaurants.
Once completed, customers will welcome back some of their favourite stores and experience some exciting new ones.

To make way for the major redevelopment, we are required to make some temporary changes to the Victoria Avenue entrance. Early Jan a hoarding was installed around the Victoria Avenue entrance, however customer access including DDA access will be maintained to both Ground floor and Lower Ground. Retailers are gradually vacating the centre ahead of full-scale mobilisation of the site from 15 March.

Construction of the new Chase Market is well underway with staggered store openings commencing from November through to later in 2024. Construction for the main retail transformation project is set to commence on 15 March 2023 and is expected to be completed at the end of 2025.
Chatswood Chase will remain open and operating throughout the planning and construction periods. We will ensure disruption is kept to a minimum.

To make way for the future of Chatswood Chase Sydney and deliver the major retail transformation over three levels, extensive redevelopment and reconfiguration works are required.
Throughout the planning and development phases for both stages of planned redevelopment, we’ve worked closely with retailers to minimise impacts and provide support via regular communications including retailer information sessions and one on one meetings to discuss potential options.

As part of the second stage of redevelopment of the centre, the ground floor through to level 2 will be required to close. David Jones will be consolidated from three levels to one.

The new Chase Market will remain open throughout the redevelopment of the retail centre.

We anticipate some delays and construction works in the loading docks during assessments and constructions. We apologise for these disruptions, but they are necessary to ensure that we can transform Chatswood Chase into north shore’s premium shopping destination.
Development works follow an approved Noise and Vibration Management Plan across all building sites. We take care to comply with construction noise guidelines to minimise impact to customers, retailers and the community, and will monitor accordingly throughout the project’s delivery.
For construction impacts such as noise, dust and light spill, we will work closely with the construction team to identify potential impacts and take appropriate action to minimise these as much as possible.

It is a condition of Vicinity’s development approval is that the Noise and Vibration Plan (NVP) is submitted to Willoughby Council’s head of planning, prior to the commencement of works. The NPV must be prepared by a suitably qualified acoustic consultant who is a member of the Australian Acoustical Society.
TRANSPORT, TRAFFIC AND CAR PARKING
During construction works, traffic management will be in place to ensure pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles can move safely through the area. Please observe vehicle speed signs in place. For any detours, please observe the signage boards in place with road detour information.
The approved parking under the DA is to offer 2349 spaces including a minimum of 60 accessible spaces. In addition, there will be 217 Bicycle lockers and 80 Motorbike spaces.

Upper levels will remain accessible via the lifts located near the Dining Hall amenities or via the lifts near Coles.

Any development work at Chatswood Chase Sydney is about creating a thriving destination to meet the evolving needs and preferences of our customers.

Marketing continues at Chatswood Chase via a mix of communication and social media channels. The centre’s website is constantly updated as well as weekly eDMs to the database and daily social media posts to communicate about the new Chase Market activity.
The centre maintains its ongoing commitment to support all retailers with a consistent and engaging communication plan, including in-centre retailer specials advertised on digital screens, gift guides, advertising and PR support of key retailer events to drive sales. In addition, the centre will embark on a media strategy of digital and traditional marketing to geotarget the customers within the main trade area.

David Jones has confirmed their plans to undertake a staged major refurbishment of their store commencing from mid-January 2024. While the works take place, they will be consolidating their three levels to a single level, however they will still be trading throughout the development works.

From early January 2024, works to the Basement 1 and Basement 2 carpark levels will be undertaken to widen the central ramp to improve customer circulation and for enabling works for the 15 March 2024 commencement.
Additional hoardings will be erected with traffic and pedestrian routes safely redirected with signage and line marking to ensure minimal impact to our customers.
Access between all levels will be maintained through the Malvern Street ramp in the multideck and all carpark entries will be operational during the works.
