As we bid summer goodbye and move into the colder months it is no secret our skin requires a little more TLC. The colder air means our most exposed areas may begin to look dull and dehydrated or feel tight and flaky.
“Chapped lips are a tell-tale sign we should change the way we are treating our skin,” says InStyle’s beauty expert Laura Agnew. “As the weather changes, so should our skincare,” says Agnew, who points to rich moisturisers and nourishing balms as autumn must-haves.
In honour of this, and to celebrate the new BeautyCycle program at David Jones – a specialised beauty packaging recycling program that means that valuable materials aren’t lost to landfill but can be recycled to make new products – we have tapped the InStyle team (of whom have tried way too many products) to share their Autumn skincare essentials. Find them here, and don’t forget to bring your empties to the designated BeautyCycle units located in the beauty department once you're done with them!
L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil, $42 at David Jones
“I will never not recommend this cult product that is an absolute saviour when it comes to scaly winter (or autumn!) skin. Not only does it turn a shower into a moment of pure indulgence, but its luxurious, satin-like feel wraps you in a delectable fragrance and leaves your skin extremely supple.” — Justine Cullen, Editor In Chief
Dermalogica Melting Moisture Masque, $99 at David Jones
“A great quick fix when you need to bring life back to your skin quickly, this is my go-to mask during the colder months. Transforming from a balm into a mask, this slippy, silky formula uses micro algae’s hydrating properties to help protect the skin from pollution, as well as hydrate and nourish. Plus it smells great. ” — Courtney Thompson, Digital Editor
Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream with Squalane, $66 at David Jones
“A cult favourite and best seller, Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream has been tested and proven to repair the skin barrier and leave skin feeling immediately smoother after applying. A lightweight formula, I can really feel it sink in rather than just sit on top of my skin. The perfect hard-working moisturiser for my dry skin. ” — Maeve Galea, Content Writer
Dior Prestige Le Sucre de Gommage, $200 at David Jones
“A great scrub that will help buff away dead skin and make sure other products can penetrate is a must-have for me. This new drop from Dior is a face and lip scrub with sugar micro-crystals that exfoliate the skin while respecting its sensitivity and not stripping it of its natural oils, making it the perfect once-a-week treatment.” — Laura Agnew, Executive Editor
